Primary Six students can gain direct school admission to Nanyang Girls’ High School (NYGH) before the release of the PSLE results. To be considered for direct admission, candidates need to:
- have good personal and leadership qualities, show positive attitude towards challenges and teamwork and have strong academic foundation,
- achieve consistently good school results in primary 5 and 6 and
- be exceptionally talented in music or sports or performing arts or have done exceptionally well in the 2008 Singapore-Malaysia Schools Bilingual Olympiad (SMBO) and the Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (APMOPS).
Application opens from 15 May to 11 July 2008. All applicants have to complete and submit their application forms online. For those with no computer access, computer terminals will be set up at NYGH General Office for applicants to apply online.
Do not submit supporting documents during the application period. The school will request for certified true copies of these documents from shortlisted candidates in August. These documents (maximum 10 pages) are non-returnable.

An administration fee of S$80.00 (inclusive of GST) is payable upon submission of application form. Cheque payment should be made payable to ‘Nanyang Girls' High School’ with the candidate's name, identification number, application acknowledgement number and telephone number clearly indicated on the back of the cheque. Cheque should be sent to the Admin Department, No. 2, Linden Drive Singapore 288683 within 5 working days from the date of application. The fee is non-refundable.
The administration fee will be waived for the top 30 individual award winners of SMBO.
Late and incomplete applications will not be processed.
All applicants are to report by 12.30 p.m. on 19 July 2008 (Sat) at the School's Siew May Auditorium lobby.
The selection exercise includes written paper on Mathematics, English and Chinese.

Refreshment will be provided for applicants after the English test.
^Top 30 individual award winners of SMBO will be exempted from taking the English & Chinese tests. Applicants will be dismissed after the Mathematic test.
+Top 20 individual award winners of APMOPS will be exempted from taking the Mathematics test. Applicants are required to report by 2 p.m. at the School's General Office.
The School will conduct CCA trials and auditions from 2 June to 21 July.
The School will conduct DSA-HMP(Higher Music Programme) theory test on 25 July (Fri), 3 p.m to 4 p.m and auditions on 31 July to 1 August (Thurs – Fri).
Only shortlisted participants will be notified from 28 to 31 July to attend an interview.
The School will conduct interviews from 4 to 22 August.
The school reserves the right not to disclose the detailed results of the DSA selection tests.
